An extensive repository of practical resources, research and policy related to people who use drugs.

StopOverdose.org Learn about opioid and stimulant overdose and naloxone. Find information on where to get naloxone, how to get treatment for opioid use disorder, and resources for professionals like pharmacists and EMTs. Includes training videos, brochures, marketing materials for education campaigns, a personal risk assessment tool, and more. 

LearnAboutTreatment.org This resource provides information and tools related to treatment options for opioids and stimulants, with content for communities, people with a substance use disorder and their friends and family, and healthcare providers and other professionals. The goal of the page is to provide education so more people can find the treatment that will work best for them.

Providers Clinical Support System. Very important repository of information and education.  “Goal: to provide evidence-based practices to improve healthcare and outcomes in the prevention of those at risk and treatment for individuals with an opioid use disorder (OUD).”

CA Bridge Program. Excellent source of practical information about how to implement buprenorphine in ER practice, and how to grow a continuum of care.  “We aim to build on this guarantee by bridging emergency care and community health to create an integrated system that improves health and equity. Using a social emergency medicine approach, we are supporting emergency providers and their community partners with funding, tools, and training to help them better serve people who have been traditionally excluded from the healthcare system. “

ScalaNW: a new Washington State Health Care Authority program that gives hospital emergency departments and acute care providers immediate access to evidence-based clinical support and convenient 24/7 scheduling for patients who could benefit from buprenorphine or methadone.

National Harm Reduction Coalition. Great repository of information on historical and current aspects of the harm reduction movement in the United States.

Opioid Data Lab: Mission is to address complex questions related to opioid use and its societal impact. The Lab emphasizes the development of open-source scientific tools and the dissemination of findings in an accessible manner. Research areas include opioid analgesics, stimulants, and heroin-fentanyl, integrating theoretical frameworks, practical applications (such as the UNC Street Drug Analysis Lab), and lived experiences.

Whatcom Overdose Prevention: a comprehensive resource for individuals in Whatcom County, offering vital information on opioid and fentanyl overdose prevention, access to naloxone (Narcan), treatment options, and educational materials for both the general public and professionals. The site provides guidance on recognizing overdose signs, administering naloxone, and understanding Good Samaritan laws, as well as data dashboards and support for those seeking treatment.

The NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative: NIH-wide effort to speed scientific solutions to stem the national opioid public health crisis. Almost every NIH Institute and Center is accelerating research to address this public health emergency from all angles. The initiative funds over 1,000 projects nationwide. Friends for Life is a Washington State Health Care Authority campaign dedicated to educating the public about illicit fentanyl, preventing opioid overdoses, and promoting the use of naloxone (Narcan). The website offers resources for parents, caregivers, and community partners, including conversation guides, overdose response training, and information on obtaining naloxone.  It also provides toolkits to help spread awareness and prevent opioid overdose deaths.

BMC MAT Quick Start: An excellent app for healthcare providers offering a quick start guide to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder. It includes guidelines, dosing information, and patient resources.

Buprenorphine Home Induction App: A patient-focused app designed to guide individuals through the home induction process for buprenorphine treatment, providing step-by-step instructions and support.

Never Use Alone: A harm reduction website offering a lifesaving hotline for people using drugs alone. Operators stay on the line to provide emergency assistance if needed.

SAMHSA - Talk. They Hear You. Parent Resources: A resource hub by SAMHSA providing parents with tools and information to have meaningful conversations with their children about the risks of substance use.

CIAO (Center for Innovation in Academic Detailing on Opioids): Based at UCSF, CIAO provides evidence-based, clinician-focused education on opioids and safe prescribing. Their academic detailing programs offer peer-to-peer support to improve care for patients with chronic pain and opioid use disorder. The site includes toolkits, webinar recordings, and practical resources for healthcare professionals.
