More about me and my practice

Dr. Schiesser's approach draws from his training in Internal Medicine, and the Biopsychosocial model originally developed at the University of Rochester.

He is a 1994 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed a 3 year residency in Internal Medicine at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. His residency experience in particular enabled him the opportunity to gain first hand knowledge in subspecialty areas including dermatology, allergy, endocrinology, and sleep medicine. In 2005, he obtained advanced certification to manage opiate dependence with Buprenorphine.

Practice Philosophy : "First I listen hard and make sure I have the story straight. Then I work up a list of options as I see them, whether that is a set of blood tests or x-rays, or a treatment plan. This is a collaborative process between me and my patients. The choices that are outlined have to be measured against a patient's values and personal situation. I always want to take the lead however, when it comes to outlining risks, and educating patients on the long term consequences of their choices."
